본고는 이영광의 시 세계를 ‘경계의 시학’이라는 관점에서 분석하고, 그의 시에 내재된 실존 윤리적 함의를 규명하는 데 목적이 있다. 그의 시는 관계적 윤리와 존재의 타자성을 인식하는 방식으로 세계를 포착하고 있으며, 이러한 시적 태도는 이영광 시의 성격을 규정하는 중요한 지점으로 논의될 수 있다.

그의 시는 ‘직선’과 ‘떨림’, ‘문’과 ‘바깥’의 경계, 그리고 ‘유령’과 ‘죽음’의 형상을 통해 삶과 죽음, 내부와 외부를 끊임없이 교차하며 사유한다. 경계 위에서 불안정하게 흔들리는 시적 주체는 “부들부들 떨며 직선을 건너는” 몸으로 나타나며, 허무를 절대화하지 않고 반복되는 언어와 다짐 속에서 타자와의 공존 윤리를 드러낸다.

그의 시는 가난과 유년기의 상흔, 결핍과 소외의 경험을 바탕으로 불완전한 실존의 모습을 형상화하면서도, 이를 언어적 전환을 통해 새로운 의미망으로 재배열한다.

즉 이영광의 시 세계는 경계 위에 선 주체를 포착하며, 내부와 외부의 이분법적 물리 공간을 흔들어 놓는다.

특히 세월호 참사와 같은 사회적 재난을 다룬 시편들은 집단적 트라우마와 애도의 윤리를 요청하는 유령의 목소리로 확장되어 그들의 고통과 슬픔을 구체화하고자 한다.

유령적 존재를 매개로 상실된 존재를 불러오고 애도함으로써 공동체적 기억을 성찰하고자 하는 것이다.

본 연구는 이영광의 시학을 통해 경계와 타자성의 사유가 어떻게 실존 윤리로 전환되는지를 밝힘으로써 그의 작품 세계를 새로운 차원에서 조명하는 데 의의가 있다.

Abstract

Borderline Thinking and Existential Ethics in the Poetry of Lee Young-gwang

This study analyzes the poetic world of Lee Young-gwang from the perspective of the“poetics of the boundary”and aims to elucidate the existential-ethical implications inherent in his work.

Lee’s poetry traverses and reflects on the boundaries of “line” and “trembling,” “door” and “outside,” as well as the figures of “specter” and “death,” thereby ceaselessly negotiating life and death, the inside and the outside. The poetic subject, precariously unsettled on the boundary, appears as a body “trembling while crossing the line,” refusing to absolutize nihilism and instead disclosing an ethics of coexistence with the Other through repeated language and affirmations. His poetry also embodies the woundedness of poverty, childhood scars, deprivation, and alienation, shaping the figure of an incomplete existence that is nevertheless reconfigured into new networks of meaning through linguistic transformation. In this sense, Lee’s poetic world foregrounds the subject who stands upon the boundary, unsettling the binary of inside and outside as fixed spatial categories. In particular, poems addressing social disasters such as the Sewol Ferry tragedy extend into spectral voices that demand a collective ethics of mourning, rendering concrete the pain and sorrow of the dead. By invoking and mourning the absent through spectral presences, his poetry becomes a site for reflecting on collective memory. This study highlights how Lee Young-gwang’s poetics transforms boundary-consciousness and alterity into an existential ethics, thereby offering a new perspective on his literary world.
