  첫째, 그리스도의 신성의 본질 측면에서, 바빙크는 기독교의 본질은 그 중심에 그리스도의 신성이 있는 기독교에서 그리스도의 위치에 있음을 논증함으로써 기독교의 본질을 변호한다.

이것은 기독교를 다른 종교와 구별 짓는 독특한 특징이며, 이러한 관점에서 바빙크는 기독교의 본질 추구의 문제는 방법론의 문제가 아니라 처음부터 성경이 증언하는 그리스도에 대한 믿음에 관한 문제라고 주장한다.

 둘째, 신학적 함의 측면에서, 그리스도의 신성에 대한 믿음은 기독교 신앙과 신학을 평가하는 규범이며, 신학의 출발점이자 모든 신학 작업에서 신학의 근본 원리가 된다.

 셋째, 보편적 관점에서 볼 때, 그리스도의 신성과 관련 교리는 이것이 없으면 기독교의 기반이 무너지는 균형추 역할을 한다.

살아 계신 그리스도, 즉 그리스도의 신성은 보편적이기 때문에 다른 관점을 가진 신학과 다른 종교와의 적절한 관계를 제공한다.

Abstract

The skeptical spirit that emerged since the eighteenth century gave rise to a series of severe and diverse debates about the essence of Christianity. These challenges to traditional Christianity questioned its very essence, reaching a peak with Harnack's lecture on the essence of Christianity. This paper examines Herman Bavinck's response to this tendency, focusing on his defense of the essence of Christianity through the centrality of Christ and the affirmation of Christ's deity, yet applying the universality of Christianity in the relationship with theology from other perspectives and with other religions. The result of this paper offers valuable insights into defending the deity of Christ as the essence of Christianity in the face of various contemporary challenges to the doctrine related to Christ's deity. Firstly, in terms of the essence of the deity of Christ, Bavinck defends the essence of Christianity by demonstrating that the essence of Christianity lies in place of Christ in Christianity, in which the deity of Christ is at its center. This is a unique characteristic that distinguishes Christianity from other religions. From this perspective, Bavinck posits that the issue of the pursuit of the essence of Christianity is not a matter of methodology but rather a matter of faith in Christ, as witnessed by the Bible from the beginning. Secondly, regarding theological implications, this faith in the deity of Christ serves as a norm for evaluating Christian faith and theology, as a starting point of theology, and as a foundational principle for theology in every theological enterprise. Thirdly, from a universal standpoint, the deity of Christ and the associated doctrines serve, without this, the foundation would collapse, as a counterweight to Christianity. The living Christ, the deity of Christ, is universal and thus provides an appropriate relationship to other religions and theologies with different perspectives..
